Manor Animal Rescue, a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation registered with the IRS and the State of Texas, was formed in 2006 by a group of concerned citizens to provide financial help to citizens who spay and neuter their pets.

We work in partnership with a number of veterinarians in the Manor, Elgin, and Austin environs. Our goal is to reduce the number of animals euthanized in Austin, which currently totals about 60 animals daily, or about 12,500 annually.

Animal Cruelty

Acts of animal cruelty should be reported to Travis County Animal Control at 311. Information on the new anti-chaining and tethering ordinance appears here. You may call 311 if you see an animal illegally tethered or chained after October 1, 2007.

We do not trap or rescue feral (wild) cats past the age of socialization (6 weeks of age). See our Resources page for help. If you have found a stray or abandoned animal, please call Town Lake Animal Center at 972-4PET. We will take animals surrendered by their owners for a rehoming fee of $75, provided the animal is up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and free from parasites.

If you have found a pet that you believe has an owner, Town Lake Animal Center has adopted new procedures. Call 311 or 972-6041 to have a "Found Animal" record created. TLAC will ask you to bring the animal to the shelter so she may be scanned for a microchip and have a digital photo taken. (You do not have to leave the animal at the shelter.) The animal's photo and description will be posted to a national website, www.petharbor.com. You will be contacted by the City for 30 days following your report.
